"The Mis/Education of Black Intellects: Havens of Resistance and Rhetorical Mapping" by Kelly Franklin, Deja Groomes, Chris Atkins, Alexis Davis, Victoria Washington
From the Lady of Rage to the Dawgs on the field, this panel maps the daughters of Hip Hop and Black rhetorical traditions, advances Morrisonian theorization, and refuses Westernized literacy definitions. Our collective intervention extends Black feminist pedagogical practices into new geographical sites of critical inquiry where reimagination and resistance follow the Black radical tradition's enduring legacy. Dr. Pough also gave yall a shout-out in her closing statement at the 2025 CLC Symposium! |

IV. "Into the Deep, Deep...": Black Boys and the Human Right to Play

- Follow along with the oral storytelling of "The Snowy Day" (and the available board book in the classroom). What do you think of this 1962 book? Why was it considered such a radical departure?
- Choose any ONE children's book in the classroom and complete the "Centering Black Boys" hand-out.
- With your team, share your book and notes. Then, as a team, choose a new category or a title based on your collection of Black Boy narratives. Be ready to represent your books connections' and your title and/or new category to the whole class.
- We'll end with a whole class discussion.
